Discover the Colors of Morocco: the Rif, the Imperial Cities, the Desert

Day 1: Arrival – Casablanca

  • Pick up at Casablanca Airport: tour of the city and visit of the Hassan II Mosque; transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Tangier
  • Tour of Rabat, the administrative capital, includes the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohamed V, the Royal Palace and a photo stop in front of the Chellah Necropolis.
  • On to Tangier with the caves of Hercules and a tour of the city. Night in Tangier. 

Day 3: Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen
  • We head to the Rif mountains where Tetouan is only about an hour away.
  • Tetouan has one of the most authentic medinas in Morocco and is a UNESCO heritage site. 
  • Night in the center of the Rif mountain region in Chefchaouen, famous for its blue walls.

Day 4 – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes

  • Visit to the site of Volubilis, the most important Roman ruins in Morocco. Night in Meknes.

Day 5 – Meknes – Fez

  • Visit the city of Meknes with its massive walls and monumental gates including Bab Mansour. Other sights include the royal stables, the grain mills and the Jewish quarter (Mellal). We spend the night in Fez.

Day 6 – Fez

  • Founded in 8th century B.C., Fez is a living museum and a colorful modern city at the same time. Sights include  the Mérinides tombs, the Royal Palace with its panoramic view of the city and its ramparts. We will visit authentic tanneries and craftsmen creating carpets and pottery. Discover the Medersa El-Attarine, a dazzling example of intricate Islamic architecture. Night in Fez.

Day 7 – Fez – Merzouga

  • On our journey to Merzouga, we will see many amazing sights like Ifrane, the small Switzerland of Morocco, cedar forests inhabited by Barbary Macaques, the middle Atlas Mountains with panoramic views of the Ziz valley and magnificent palm groves. A short stop at Erfoud, known for fossils hundreds of million years old and for exquisite dates,
    then on to Merzouga and the Sahara Desert. Night at the hotel in Merzouga.

Day 8 – Merzouga

  • 4 x 4 ride in the desert where we will meet nomads.
    In the afternoon, a camel ride to a berber encampment (with standard or luxury tents) where we will spend the night.

Day 9 – Merzouga – Boumalne Dades

  • Discover the Todra Gorges. Night in Boumalne Dades.

Day 10 – Boumalne Dades – Marrakech

  • Stop at Aït Ben Haddou to visit the 16th century Ksar, a UNESCO heritage site.
    On to Ouarzazate, home to movies studios that used this iconic town and Kasbah in blockbusters such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Man Who Would Be King, Cleopatra and The Mummy. Then we take the Atlas road to Marrakech where we spend the night.

Day 11 – Marrakech

  • Founded in 1062, the former Imperial City of Marrakech has a rich history. So many places to see like the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Jemaa el-Fna Square and colorful Souks and the Minaret of Koutoubia to name a few. Night in Marrakech.

Day 12 – Marrakech

  • Relax and explore all that Marrakech has to offer or take a day trip to the Ourika Valley in the Atlas Mountains. Night in Marrakech.

Day 13 – Marrakech – Essaouira

  • On the way to Essaouira, we will visit an argan oil cooperative. We will see the famous goats that climb the argan trees to feed on the fruits. Night in Essaouira.

Day 14 – Essaouira

  • Discover the town of Essaouira, originally ancient Mogador. In the afternoon you can enjoy the beach. Night in Essaouira

Day 15 – Airport transfer
